Guard Against Hard Surfaces in the Home
They say home is where the heart is, but home can also be where the most danger is. Because of the sheer amount of time we spend in our homes and the various projects and duties we handle there that we would never be asked (or allowed) to take on in our professional lives, it makes sense that many accidents take place in and around the home. One way to help reduce that potential is with foam safety products.
One of the more dangerous areas in the home is the basement, with its poor lighting, low ceilings and support beams. This opens the possibility for banged elbows, stubbed toes and bumped heads on hard and sharp surfaces. Foam rubber cushions are one helpful solution to the dangers present in the basement, with thin sheets of padding able to be wrapped around sharp, low-hanging duct work and floor joists. They can also be wrapped around basement support poles, though softer, pre-cut polyurethane foam cylinders exist that simply slide over a pole for soft protection.
Fireplaces are another potential danger source in the home, not necessarily because of the fires, but the construction of the hearth. Made of stone and brickwork, these can jut into living spaces with hard and sharp edges that are dangerous to children and adults alike. Padding the edges of these with foam for fire place safety can reduce skinned shins or the danger of tumbling children. Often set into wooden frames, these can be an attractive addition to your home décor that improves safety.
Staying safe is one of the most important things in life and with a little awareness and prevention, we can enjoy our homes that much more.
